This Handsome Little Crooner: Miguel Antonio

When I was called up by his uncle to cover some PR work for him, I was so excited. I heard about this handsome little crooner weeks ago and boy, I was so proud when I knew that he was a Davaoenyo.

His mini concert was coming in less than a week and they needed to arrange his schedules for TV guestings, interviews, photo shoots and even his own birthday party! During those times, I was also running around the city and spending hundreds on cellphone load alone.

Miguel Antonio Vedanaigam is an 11-year-old boy wonder who spent his first 6 years here in Davao city and then moved to Singapore due to his mom's work assignment. His family never really thought he'd have such a great voice until one time, when he was asked to sing for a small school function, he said that  he wanted to sing "I Dreamed a Dream". Knowing that this song had such high notes, his mother was initially surprised. Instead, she tried to convince Miguel to pick an easier song. But Miguel stuck with "I Dreamed a Dream".

When he began practicing, her parents were shocked when he hit the song's highest notes effortlessly. This was when they realized that he had an amazing gift for singing. A school administrator referred him to some local event organizers (in Singapore) and word picked up from there.

Today, Miguel Antonio is one of the most celebrated child singers in Singapore.

Last November 11, 2011, in his mini-concert at Marco Polo Hotel’s Eagles bar, he wowed  many with his angelic voice. His Daddy-ger (Dad and Manager) said that it was the first concert he ever did and that Miguel was very excited about it. Needless to say, he didn’t let us down, and most of us fell deeper and deeper in love with his voice as the night advanced.

He sang the hits of Michael Bolton, Phil Collins,  Josh Groban and he even did great renditions of Katy Perry’s Firework and Peter Cetera’s Glory of Love. There were times when I had goosebumps whenever he hits a high note! Wow, this kid is truly a gem.

Rumors say he’ll be signing a contract with an international entertainment company soon, and another with a major recording company here in the Philippines. No surprises there, this kid is already a well-loved household name in Singapore. More power to you Miguel Antonio! :)
