Juggling Two Jobs? No Problem!

Maybe, you realized that times are truly rough and it’s about time for you to get a second job. Or maybe, you are lusting over the latest gadget that you needed extra cash. There are plenty of opportunities to choose from online. You can work a straight 8-hour, decent paying job for the first part of your day, and maybe have a 4-hour, part-time that also pays well. The problem with a lot of neophytes in this set up is juggling their responsibilities. A lot of people think that they should not be in a difficult situation to deal with life, its demands and a second job.

The simplest solution here is that you can just opt out because no one’s forcing you! It’s dangerous to overpromise and then, underdeliver. It’s just like having two lovers. If you don’t deliver what you’re supposed to for the two people that you are working for, you just might lose the both of them! Surely you wouldn’t want that! Moreover, just remember that a little extra income never hurt anyone who can still manage to pull it off. It all boils down to what your mindset is, your approach in doing your work, and how organized you are. Here are some great work advice:

Simply put, you need to be really goal oriented if you decide to have two jobs. Always remind yourself why you are doing what you’re doing. For one thing, as a yuppie, you could promise yourself that you should be able to save up your first million by the time you reach your 30’s. On the other hand, simpler and more short-term rewards have to be gadgets you can buy for yourself or a vacation. You can even go to the extent of trying to set up your own trust fund. This way, you’d have money to use at some future point in time. Whatever it is, always keep a goal in mind!

Moreover, also consider your work approach. This means that you should be able to do a second job that doesn’t feel too much of a job for you to do. Apart from enjoying it and making sure that its part of your inclination, you should be efficient enough to do your work. Maximize the times of the day which you are most productive to do your second job. For example, you’d be most likely effective to do great at night if your work involves sketching or other online related jobs.

Lastly, you should manage to keep things organized and compartmentalized. Organized means that when you have a schedule, make sure that you can do it with the specifications that it requires. Considerations may include the time to do your work, quality of the work you do, specific instructions being carried out, etc. Compartmentalization means that you should be able to segregate the work you do according to the schedule you’ve set out for the day. It’s suggested that neither job should over lap the other because both are equally important to accomplish and finish as planned. Remember---goal oriented. However, when push comes to shove, go back to option one: drop the other.

In this time of freelancers, freelancing and endless wants, a second job is not new to us. Got more thoughts? Email me at live_out_loud@ymail.com or follow my marketing and PR blog, www.yournewprgirl.com
